Default does this mean that the lenses would be thinned down

We have always been told in the past that due to the strength of the lenses, we were unable to choose half rimmed glasses.I'm not sure exactly what you mean by chaning the lense package to 1.61 or 1.67, does this mean that the lenses would be thinned down. If so, at what extra cost would this be to us.
