The difference between the commom lenses and aspheric lenses

Last week when i bought a pair of eyeglasses, the staff recommended me to selected aspheric lenses, but i do not know what it is the difference between the commom lenses and aspheric lenses? I want to know what is ? Can you tell me? Looking forward to your replying!
