How often should I get new reading eyeglasses?

I have had my reading eyeglasses for 3 years, someone says it is harmful to my eyes if I use it perennially, so how often should I get new reading eyeglasses? Appreciate!

Generally speaking a pair of eyeglass can last 12 monthes,because the lenses will be scratched after that time,that will do great harm to your visual ability.
