The darker the better? sunglasses tint

There is a saying,The deeper the Sunglasses tint is, the better the effect of its UV protection is! Actually that's wrong, because there is a special process(by adding UV powder) in the whole manufacturing process,so that the lens can absorb the harmful ultraviolet light which has the wave frequency under 380NM,So there is no absolute relation between sunglasses tint and its UV protection.
